Valerie returns to Hill Institute to offer Calligraphy once again. She grew up in the Berkshires before moving to Florence, where she has resided for the past 30 years. As a youth Valerie enjoyed drawing and painting and was fortunate to have parents and grandparents who encouraged her creative spirit by enrolling her in local museum art classes as well as frequent trips to the Clark Museum in Williamstown. She is a member of the MA Scribes Calligraphers, where she has taken several workshops over the years with professional calligraphers, including Suzanna Moore, who once taught at the Hill Institute. She currently enjoys calligraphy and painting and exhibits her work both locally and in the Berkshires. Valerie is a member of the Old Deerfield Painting Group in Deerfield, MA, which utilizes her calligraphy skills for group exhibitions. Her calligraphy is part of the permanent collection at the Alumni House at Smith College, and she has done several private commissions throughout the Valley. Her work can be viewed on FineArtAmerica.
