Diane Welter loves fiber - especially wool - as a medium for color, texture, and pattern. She studied art at Rhode Island School of Design and UMass. She learned fiber arts from her grandmother, Deanne Fitzpatrick at ATHA workshops and Marilyn Bottjer at the National Museum of Folk Art. She studied dyeing with Wanda Kerr and Michelle Micarelli. She enjoys rug hooking, braiding, knitting, sewing, needlepoint, crocheting, dyeing, and more. Students are encouraged to be creative while learning to understand and respect the techniques needed to work with the fibers of their choice. Diane finds handwork relaxing, stimulating, satisfying, and fun.
